Project Update

The Feeling Hot Hot Hot! public panel session and the launching of an online Heat Mapping tool was held on Wednesday 6 February at the Adelaide Town Hall and was attended by 489 community members including Elected Members from the eight Resilient East Councils. Read more about the engagements results by clicking here.

Project Information

We wanted to understand how our community responds to and prepares for extreme heat and heatwaves, including where people go to stay out of the heat. While heat was front of mind over summer (including multiple heatwave events and maximum temperature records) we encouraged you to tell us the places within Greater Adelaide that you go to during extremely hot weather, and where you avoid – both day and night. The results will be used to inform our approach and priorities for planning, greening, emergency management, and resilience building for our community.

Background

Adelaide experienced a very hot and dry summer. As our climate changes, heatwaves are getting hotter, longer and more frequent. City of Adelaide is working with seven other councils and the SA State Government in a climate change adaptation partnership called Resilient East on making our region climate ready.

Drop a pin on places you go within the Greater Adelaide region to keep cool or places you avoid when it's hot at day or night. For example, your local pool, community centre or library; the river; the beach; a shopping mall? etc.

You can also explain why and upload a picture.

You can do as many as you like!
