Why is Council undertaking these works?
These works will help beautify this area of Park Lands and formalise
what is currently an unkempt area. With the recent installation of the Park
Lands Trail through this area, this formalisation and installation of greening
will help create a spectacular area of Park Lands for all residents and other
stakeholders to enjoy.
What species of plants are Council looking to install?
There are a large
range of species that have been specifically selected to be installed as part
of these works. Example species include Leucophyta brownie (Cushion bush), Poa
labillardieri (Common tussock-grass) and Rhagodia spinescens (Creeping
saltbush).A full list of the species to be included can be provided upon request.
Why is Council installing only understorey planting and not any trees or larger shrubs?
Currently in this area there are a significant amount of trees which Council are retaining as part of these works. This includes a number of native and other desired species of trees.
We are complementing the existing mature trees with a range of
different understorey plantings and instant turf. This will have the impact of
significantly and instantly greening the area, as well as continuing to allow
vistas through the area to the Golf Course
