Background

Amendments to the current Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) for ‘Community Open Space’ have been proposed to accommodate a request from a restaurant/café to provide outdoor dining in Vaughan Place.

In 2007 the subject land was compulsorily acquired to establish a key pedestrian link from Rundle Street to North Terrace (incorporating Paxton’s Walk). The subject land is known as Vaughan Place.

The land is currently held for providing easy access and a convenient thoroughfare for pedestrians using the area.

The subject land became community land upon acquisition, pursuant to section 193(4)(a) of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA) (LG Act).

At its meeting on 14 November 2017 Council endorsed the proposed amendments to the current CLMP for ‘Community Open Space’. In line with current legislation Council is now required to seek the views of the public regarding its decision.
