Expressions of Interest for Lease Licence for Sporting Facilities in Mary Lee Park (Park 27b)

Consultation has concluded
Calling for community sporting organisations with the ability to partner with Council in this area of the Park Lands!
Background
The City of Adelaide is the custodian of the majority of the Adelaide Park Lands and to activate these areas looks to partner with community sporting organisations through leasing and licensing.
In accordance with the City of Adelaide’s Park Lands Leasing and Licensing Policy, an expression of interest (EOI) process is required to be undertaken before consideration of any new tenure (lease or licence) and/or building project in the Park Lands is entered into with the Council.
A copy of this policy can be viewed by clicking here.
This EOI process has been triggered by the expiry of an existing lease and licence for this area and the endorsed master plan that proposes a new building in a different location. As a result, it is considered appropriate to firstly consider the future of the park and its sporting areas.
Project Information
Sporting fields will operate under a licence arrangement which provides users with first right of use (as nominated and approved). When they are not being used by the licensee these facilities are available to the general public. Sports buildings operate under a lease arrangement giving the users sole occupancy for co-operative use and sub-letting consistent with the sporting objectives.
This EOI is an opportunity to facilitate the replacement of the existing sports building with a facility that is fit for purpose for the activities proposed by the preferred lessee.
The opportunity to relocate the sports building further north was identified in a Renewal SA master plan, endorsed by Council in 2014, as part of an overall redevelopment of the park. This will enhance connections with the new community recreation facilities and community garden, formal car park and parking on War Memorial Drive.
It is envisaged that the new building will incorporate public toilets and provide opportunities for community use outside of organised sporting use.
