Why is Marshmallow Playground and the adjacent tennis court closing temporarily?
As part of the South Australian State Government’s $5 million funding pledge to revitalise Pityarilla (Park 19), upgrade works to Marshmallow Playground and the adjacent tennis court area will take place from September 2017.
In addition, a new community plaza, landscaped promenades for improved cycling and pedestrian access, lighting, shelter, signage and other works will be undertaken.
How long will the playground and tennis court be closed for and when will they re-open?
Marshmallow Playground and the adjacent community court will temporarily close in September. The entire Park is due to have the majority of construction completed by the end of 2017 with some residual works and plantings to take place early in 2018. Further communication will be issued confirming when the facilities will be re-opened closer to the time.
Are there other playgrounds nearby that we can use in the interim?
What will happen to tennis court access?
Access to the Pityarilla (Park 19) tennis court will not be available from September until the end of the year in order to facilitate the revitalisation of Pityarilla (Park 19). There are other community tennis courts at that southern side of Watyu Yarta (Park 21), adjacent to Greenhill Road, which the public may use.
