Park Lands Naming: Proposing additional non-indigenous park names

Consultation has concluded

In 2013, Adelaide City Council decided that all Parks in the Park Lands should have a non-indigenous or English language name to be used together with its existing Kaurna name. A Naming Committee was established as a subcommittee of the Adelaide Park Lands Authority (APLA) to develop the proposed approach to naming as well as the names themselves. Its recommendations have been supported by Council and APLA.

The Parks which currently only have a Kaurna name are the focus of this project. The proposed names for these Parks, as well as some un-named areas within parks and some un-named roads within the Park Lands.

Once Council has approved proposed names, taking into account community views, the City of Adelaide has a legislative obligation to provide public notice of the policy as well as the names adopted.
