With about 200,000 vehicles accessing the City daily, parking has a significant impact on the experience of city visitors and residents, as well as business vitality and our economic growth. Efficient parking management makes it easier to do business, supporting the economic prosperity of our City. It also minimises the time drivers spend circling trying to find an available park, which helps reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
The City of Adelaide plans to implement smart parking technology to improve the parking experience. The technology will include an app that provides people with accurate real-time information about parking availability, alert people if their parking is about to run out, and allow people to pay for their on-street car park using their smart phone or device, including topping up their payment to extend to the maximum time limit.
