Have your say on SA's future planning system

South Australia’s urban and regional planning system is currently undergoing its biggest reform in over 25 years. A key element of this reform is the creation of a single State-wide planning rule book, the Planning and Design Code (P&D Code). The P&D Code will replace all Development Plans across the State.

The State Planning Commission (the Commission) is responsible for preparing, consulting and implementing the P&D Code across the State. In late 2018 the Commission announced that the Code would be implemented in three phases:

Geographic area
Timing of Consultation

Implementation
Phase 1:
Land not within a Council
area (Outback)

Completed
1 July 2019
Phase 2:
Regional Councils

Anticipated Oct 2019
April 2020
Phase 3:
Metropolitan Councils
(including City of Adelaide)
Anticipated Oct 2019
1 July 2020

Consultation

The Commission is responsible for consultation on the P&D Code and all responses should be submitted to the Commission via the SA Planning Portal. To assist our community, the City of Adelaide will post regular updates to this page including our submissions to each consultation. For further information about the State Planning Reform process, please see the SA Planning Portal.
