Consultation has concluded.
At its meeting on 10 October 2017, Council resolved to support a 21-year lease agreement with the current lessees of a portion of community land in Tampawardli (Park 24) being the Adelaide Comets Football Club Inc (ACFC), subject to the relevant community consultation being undertaken in accordance with the Local Government Act 1999. In addition, due to the term being greater than 10 years, it is also a legislative requirement to lay the agreement before both houses of parliament.
We are now seeking community feedback on the draft lease agreement. The decision to support this long-term lease is to allow the Adelaide Comets Football Club Inc (ACFC) to continue their longstanding association with Tampawardli (Park 24) and the development of a new multipurpose community sports hub, replacing facilities that no longer meet the requirements of community sport.
The Sports Infrastructure Master Plan identified as a priority the removal of the existing soccer and athletics buildings and consolidate into a new multipurpose facility that services the needs of the public, sporting tenants, adjacent schools (Adelaide High School and St Mary’s College) and other community groups.
