Will access to Tarntanya Wama (Park 26) be affected during the event?
The Adelaide Festival proposal includes a complete closure of both the access roadway and pathway (refer to yellow lines on proposed lease area map) during operational hours of the venue, these being:
Outside of the above operational hours of the venue the Adelaide Festival are proposing to allow public access to the roadway (marked no. 2 on Lease Map). The footpath (marked no. 1 on Lease Map) would not be accessible for the duration of the Lease.
The highlighted roadway and pathway are currently the alternative cycling and disability access routes as part of the Torrens bridge construction works. It is not confirmed if the main pathway that follows the river will be re-opened for public access by the time Adelaide Festival plan to begin their lease. If the main river pathway is to remain closed alternative routes for both cyclist and disabled will need to be established prior to final Lease approval.
How will the Park Lands be protected during their stay?
In addition to the standard requirements under the event lease, Adelaide Festival will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event will be responsible for restoring the park at the end of the event.
Specifically Adelaide Festival has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures:
Can I expect noise where I live?
The Adelaide Festival Club is required to abide by a Noise Mitigation plan for this event. Residents and businesses in surrounding areas will be notified by the event organiser via mail at least two weeks prior to the event detailing the event times and contact information for complaints or queries.
I have already seen a poster or advertisement for this event. Has it already been approved?
Approval for an event requiring public consultation is only given after the consultation period has concluded and Council has had the opportunity to review any submissions.
Adelaide City Council discourages any event from promotions prior to Council approval.
In some instances, particularly national tours, there is a need for events to announce dates in each capital city. This however does not constitute Council approval for the event.
