What do you think about having the Adelaide Marathon Festival in our city on Sunday 22 August 2021?

Update

No objections were received during the consultation for the permit application to temporarily close selected roads in the City of Adelaide to facilitate the staging of the Adelaide Marathon Festival on 22 August 2021. As a result the CEO has approved the road closures; City Events has issued the applicant their Event Permit, and SA Police have issued their Road Closure Notice (S.17& S.33 RTA).

Consultation overview and background

We would like your feedback on an event road application we have received from the South Australian Road Runners Club to hold the Adelaide Marathon Festival from 7.00 am to 1pm on Sunday 22 August 2021.

The South Australian Road Runners Club has been holding the Adelaide Marathon Festival within the City of Adelaide for the last 43 years. The Festival consists of four integrated courses being a 5km Kids Fun Run, 10km course, 21.1km course and 42.2km course. Each of the running courses starts and finishes at Adelaide Oval. The course will then wind through the Park Lands, utilising several roads in the City of Adelaide including the Botanical Gardens.

Under the Local Government Act 1999, the City of Adelaide is required to consult the public before it can grant a permit for an event that requests to use a public road for business purposes, and which will require whole or partial road closure(s) that may impede the passage of traffic to a material degree.

To facilitate this event, it is proposed that several City of Adelaide roads will be closed to vehicular traffic - see below:
