Will access to Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka be affected during the event?

    The Adelaide Fringe infrastructure will not block existing pathways during the event so thoroughfare will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The Gluttony infrastructure will not block existing pathways during the event so access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.

    Traffic marshals will be onsite during set up and pull down to ensure pedestrian and cyclist safety while using pathways.

    Will access to Rundle Park / Kadlitpina be affected during the event?

    Access to the park will be restricted for the duration of the event’s lease.

    During the set up and pull down period the central pathway will remain open when possible and traffic marshals will be on-site to ensure pedestrian and cyclist safety. Pre warning signage will be erected to notify pedestrians to any access changes.

    Once the event has opened, during peak pedestrian and cyclist transit times the central pathway will remain open. When pathways are blocked an alternate route will be indicated.

    How will the Park Lands be protected during their stay?

    In addition to the standard requirements under the event lease, event organisers will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event will be responsible for restoring the park at the end of the event.

    Specifically Adelaide Fringe has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures:

    • Implementation of a Vehicle Management Plan
    • The use of track matting or temporary surfaces to reduce the impact of vehicles and foot traffic
    • Hand watering schedule throughout the event duration

    Specifically Gluttony has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures:

    • The use of track matting or temporary flooring surfaces to reduce the impact of vehicles and foot traffic in high use areas.
    • A large proportion of the lease area will only be open on weekends, allowing areas of the site to recover between weekend openings.
    • Organisers will manage vehicle deliveries so that only single routes are used for entry and exit off site.

    Specifically Garden of Unearthly Delights has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures:

    • Implementation of a Remediation Management and Internal Traffic Management Plan to minimise impact;
    • Defined areas of the park will be quarantined and alternated for future events. During the event, fragile areas will be protected with fencing from vehicle impact and pedestrians;
    • The use of vehicles with low turf impact tyres where possible;
    • Defined areas where event vehicles will not be permitted;
    • The use of track matting or temporary floor surfaces to reduce impact on turf;
    • Installation of decking to be installed in high pedestrian areas; and
    • Watering schedule maintained throughout the event duration.

    Can I expect noise where I live?

    Event Organisers are required to abide by a noise mitigation plan for this event. Residents in surrounding areas will be notified by the event organiser via mail at least two weeks prior to the event detailing the event times and contact information for complaints or queries.

    I have already seen a poster or advertisement for this event. Has it already been approved?

    Approval for an event requiring public consultation is only given after the consultation period has concluded and Council has had the opportunity to review any submissions.

    Adelaide City Council discourages any event from promotions prior to Council approval.

    In some instances, particularly national tours, there is a need for events to announce dates in each capital city. This however does not constitute Council approval for the event.

    What happens to my feedback?

    All submissions will be collated and included in a report to Council to assist in making a decision regarding the event lease.

    A report will be presented to the City Culture and Community Services Committee on 1 October 2013 followed by the Council meeting on 8 October 2013.
