Update: October 2022

The City Skate Park is officially open!

The Olympic standard skate park will give skateboarders and all wheeled sport enthusiasts a permanent community facility in the CBD. This state-of-the-art facility is a street style space, with stair sets, grinding rails, ledges and a large bowl featuring a unique vertical cradle. It also has a designated area for beginners with a mini bowl, and floodlights to enable safe use throughout day and night.

Update: August 2022

We are almost go for launch! The City skate Park is really taking shape - see below.

The official opening is happening from 10am-12pm on Saturday September 3. At the moment the team is busy applying the finishing touches to the skate park, which will be open to the public from midday on Saturday September 3.

Update: July 2022

We are pleased to announce that construction pf the City Skate Park is almost complete. The final stage will be the landscaping which we will do throughout August. Although the wet month of July did have an impact on progress, we still remain on schedule to have the City Skate Park ready for the official opening on the 1 September. The quality and size of the City Skate Park is truly remarkable considering the adversity faced throughout the construction. We look forward to opening this space for the community on 3 September 2022.

Update: May 2022

The City Skate Park, despite COVID tribulations, is taking shape. Here are some photos which highlight the intricacies of concreting curved structures. Great work by the contractor and to the project team in the delivery of this project!!!

More shots of the work that is currently underway.

Update: April 2022

Progress on the City Skate Park is being made...albeit slowly - see below:

Unfortunately, the spread of Covid 19 across the nation and associated quarantine requirements has led to a reduction in available resources. This has affected the head contractor onsite and key suppliers providing concrete, steel and labour resources. This has inevitably delayed the completion of works and the official opening date.

The contractor has installed the Olympic standard lighting which helps mitigate the delays by working longer hours to complete the project.

Please visit us again soon for further updates.

Update: January 2022

Works at the new City Skate Park are progressing steadily, despite some less than desirable weather conditions leading into Christmas. The civil works are now complete and a lot of footings have been poured in preparation for the skate surface. Over the next two months there will be a continuous flow of concrete occurring in conjunction with the above Olympic standard lighting being installed.’

City Skate Park: Update September 2021

The City of Adelaide has been working to deliver an exemplary skate facility in the heart of the city; however, some unavoidable technical delays have impacted on the project completion date. These unavoidable delays have allowed further testing and optimisation of the remaining works. We understand this has been disappointing, but are confident the final outcome will be worth the wait.

We have done some good work with the contractors for stage one that has allowed us to optimise the earthworks and move into stage two with Convic for the remainder of the build. Convic are a trusted skate park designer and specialist contractor. As the designer they have been working closely with us from the concept stage. Stage two construction is scheduled to begin in early October 2021.

The skate park is on track for completion in early 2022. Please refer to this page for future updates.
