Project background

Section 50 of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA) (the Act) requires councils to have a public consultation policy. A public consultation policy sets out a council’s requirements under the Act to ensure it meets its legislated responsibilities (as required by law) to consult with the community as part of its decision-making processes.

The content of City of Adelaide’s public consultation policy has been reviewed and updated to reflect amendments to the Act.

As stipulated by Section 50 (6) of the Act, the reviewed policy is required to go out for public consultation for a minimum of one (1) month.
