Consultation has concluded.

Consultation on the Licence for the Community Garden in Park 27b took place over a 3 week period in March 2016. No negative feedback was received during this consultation and the Licence for the garden was subsequently granted by Council.

    Public opinion was invited on a new community garden in the Park Lands! This proposed space would be managed by community members and located off Park Terrace, opposite Bowden.

    Public consultation on the overall enhancement project for this area of the Adelaide Park Lands revealed considerable interest in a community garden component.

    Support for community gardens was also expressed through the ‘Shape the Park Lands’ consultation undertaken for the draft Adelaide Park Lands Management Strategy.

    A further community consultation has helped shape the garden design and generated interest in a management committee to care for the site.

    Two letter-box drops and three community workshops produced a database of over 40 people interested in participating in the garden, including nine from North Adelaide.

    Community gardens are a popular source of enjoyment. The garden will be used to grow vegetables, fruit and flowers, will not be fenced and is not a commercial venture.

    As part of the redevelopment of Park 27B in the Adelaide Park Lands opposite the Bowden redevelopment site, Adelaide City Council is proposing to licence to a local community group the portion of the Park Lands shown in red on the location map for five years for use as a community garden.

    Under the Local Government Act 1999, Councils are required to formally undertake public consultation for a lease or licence...
