Minimising the Impact of Construction Works

Project Update

The information gained through the ‘Your Say’ portal has helped inform stage one of the project that identified issues experienced by residents, property owners and businesses during several major constructions in the city. The results were presented in an easy to understand format that could be forwarded to the Public Sector Innovation Lab committee members (who are leading this particularly 90 -day project) as well as providing content for elected members updates. Stage 2 of this project will involve engaging the property sector which includes the builders, developers, investors, architects etc and the construction industry in general to talk to and understand from the ones who are doing the work, and see what their thoughts are, and how they can work together with residents, property owners and businesses to minimise the impacts.

Project information

We want your feedback on the impact of major construction works in your neighbourhood.

If you own a business, and/or own property, or live (or have lived) near the site of a major development in the city we would value your feedback about the impact the construction had on your business, on you, your family, your business customers and/or neighbours.

The purpose is for the City of Adelaide and the Office of the Small Business Commissioner to better understand the impact of large-scale construction on businesses and residents, and how these impacts can be minimised.

Background

In recent years, the number of major developments in Adelaide has increased significantly, which has led to a proportionate increase in residents and business experiencing the adverse effects of construction.

This is an opportunity to voice your concerns and express your opinions about the impact of major development in the City of Adelaide. The intent of this project is to try and better understand the development process, identify any areas for improvement in the system and implement strategies to lessen the impact of development on residents and businesses.
