In recent legislative changes to the Local Government Act, 1999, a Behavioural Management Framework was established to strengthen the behavioural standards and management processes for Council members in the performance of their official functions and duties.

The Framework requires all South Australian Councils to have a Behavioural Management Policy and the option for Council's to develop a Behavioural Support Policy.

The Behavioural Support Policy sets out the behavioural standards that the members of a Council agree to observe in relation to interactions with each other and Council staff.

Council sought feedback on the draft policy ahead of it being presented to the City Finance and Governance Committee on 17 October 2023 and at the Council Meeting on 24 October 2023 meeting for adoption.
