What is East End Echoes?

East End Echoes is a night-time trail of light featuring installations and projections on building facades in and around Rundle Street as part of Illuminate Adelaide’s free City Light’s program.

The East End is one of Adelaide’s most popular and historic strips, home to a bustling mix of flavours, fashion and festivity. Pop on your headphones and dive into this colourful history with this self-guided walking circuit of lighting, projections and soundscapes.

Featuring work by animators, storytellers and sound artists in the 'illuminart' network, the digital circuit highlights the street's themes and stories to offer you an exciting parallel experience augmenting the streetscape.

Larger crowds are anticipated to attend East End Echoes on Friday and Saturday evenings across the Illuminate Adelaide festival period. The purpose of the road closures is to provide viewing space for crowds on road at the anticipated peak times.

Illuminate Adelaide is a new major annual winter event for Adelaide, taking over the city streets, laneways and buildings from 16 July - 01 August 2021, celebrating innovation, music, art, technology and light.

How will stakeholders be notified of this event?

If the event is approved all residents and businesses residing in the surrounding area will be notified of the upcoming event via a letterbox drop organised by the event organiser two weeks prior the event. Included in the letter will be details of expected impacts, road closure details and an event hotline telephone number.

Additionally, the City of Adelaide upload details of upcoming, approved events on it’s Event Dashboard  - https://www.cityofadelaide.com.au/community/spaces-rooms-venues-to-hire/upcoming-events/.

Who can I contact during the event if I have any concerns regarding the event?

Events are required to provide an event hotline telephone number, should a member of the public wish to lodge any feedback or concerns during the event.

Any member of the public can use the event hotline number to provide their feedback to the event organiser. It is the responsibility of the event organiser to consider all feedback provided and take necessary actions to remedy the issue. The event hotline phone number will be operated for the duration of the event.

Members of the public can also contact the City of Adelaide on 8203 7203 to raise feedback or concerns.

Would fixed businesses remain accessible during the East End Echoes road closures?

Yes, while the road will be closed to vehicular traffic, pedestrians will still be able to access the businesses on Rundle St, Vardon Ave and Ebenezer Pl and the event organisers will ensure the footpaths are kept clear to provide clear access to existing premises.

Will commercial vehicles be able to service businesses within the road closures?

During the road closure no vehicles (authorised vehicles exempt) will be able to access the closed portion of road.

Can we say something about no noise/music associated with the activations?
