Project Update: October 2014
Council is currently operating
in caretaker mode, and therefore it's not possible to provide the full report
of the consultation process or to seek Council endorsement on the final parking
plan until early 2015.
A report was presented to the 'City Infrastructure & Public Works' Committee this month to provide a quick update on the consultation.
We can advise that,
- 48 responses
(5.2% of the letters distributed) were received, of which 3 were via email and
45 on the official feedback forms.
- 68.75% of the respondents lived
or worked in the East End and 62.5% of the respondents were ratepayers.
- There was strong support for the statements relating to a
high turnover of vehicles; that parking should primarily cater for short
visits; and be of greater consistency. There was overwhelming support for
parking controls being easy to understand and supporting different user groups.
Additional details on the feedback will be provided in a
report to be considered by Council. For further details on this update please click here.
