Feast Festival

Feast Festival has been held in the Park Lands since 2002, with the Hub operating since 2010.
Feast festival is Australia’s largest gay and lesbian art and cultural festival.  The Feast Festival Hub will contain a variety of venues hosting a range of performances including comedy, theatre, music and cabaret. Catering outlets and two bar areas will also operate in the event site.

Entry to the area is free and pedestrian access through the Square is available (except Opening Night) with performance venues within the Hub ticketed.  A ticket office will be located onsite. 

Opening Night will be ticketed and involve live music and/or DJ’s.   The perimeter fence line for Opening Night is proposed to include the entirety of Light Square/Wauwe plus the possible closure of Currie Street (the immediate section adjacent the square).

The venue will be licenced with capacity for approximately 3,000 people on the Opening Night (Saturday 10 November 2012) and Picnic After Party (Sunday 25 November 2012) and 1,000 people per night at the Festival Hub. Opening hours are proposed from 5pm to midnight on weekdays and from 9am to 1am on weekends.

Event infrastructure in the Park Lands will include:
•    Associated marquees and tented structures
•    Food Service - catering/selling vans or booths
•    Staging and/or rigging
•    Public address and lighting support equipment
•    Toilets
•    Signage for the event
•    Ticket boxes
•    Site huts
•    Bike Racks
•    Temporary Fencing
•    Waste Management
•    Support vehicles

Feast 2011 was one of Australia’s largest queer arts and cultural festivals. In 2011 the Feast Festival Hub in Light Square/Wauwe included venues such as The Campsite, specifically designed for oral storytelling and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander events, 6 visual artist exhibition spaces, a new outdoor cinema where audiences could see free silent movies and an our outdoor stage for DJ’s and local emerging artists every night.
