Adelaide Fringe activities have been held in the East Park Lands since 2006.
Adelaide Fringe’s 2013 application incorporates the Fringe Club, FringeTIX East End Box Office and the Adelaide Fringe Street Theatre Festival. The setup of event infrastructure is scheduled to start on 4 February with pull down to be completed by 22 March 2013.
Fringe Club
The Fringe Club will be a gathering and meeting place for all artists registered in Adelaide Fringe, general arts industry personel and to Adelaide Fringe sponsors. Admittance to the venue is only available to pass holders, although members of the general public will be able to win free passes and attend selected special events.
Fringe Club will provide a space for artists to find out Fringe information, meet in, eat, drink and network. The Fringe Club will be licenced and it is anticipated that it will attract 500 people per day.
Opening hours are proposed from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm on Mondays and 10.00 am to 3.00 am on Tuesdays to Sundays.
Fringe Club will consist of a bar under a circus tent and a large decked area incorporating a programmed stage, giving the feeling of a relaxed Australian back yard. The stage will be hosted by an MC and programmed nightly with live music, performances and DJ’s.
FringeTIX East End Box Office
The Box Office will operate through the entirety of Adelaide Fringe providing the general public with festival information and ticketing services. It is anticipated that it will attract 1,000 people daily. Opening hours are proposed from 10:00 am to 12.00 am daily.
The structure is architecturally designed and will also serve as artistic presence in the East End of the City.
Adelaide Fringe Street Theatre Festival (Rymill Park Pitch)
This event will run from Friday 8 March to Monday 11 March 2013. It is anticipated that this free event will attract approximately 2,000 people per day. Opening hours are proposed from 6.00 pm to 12.00 am on Friday and 2.00 pm to 12.00 am Saturday to Monday.
This is a free curated outdoor event providing audiences with the opportunity to see a spectacular selection of local, national and international street performance artists.
Council is committed to creating a vibrant city full of exciting and popular cultural and artistic events. Adelaide Fringe is Australia’s largest arts festival. An estimated 1.59 million people attended in 2012. The program featured more than 4,000 local, national and international artists in 6,532 performances at 923 events around South Australia.
Adelaide receives world-wide media coverage, including television, throughout the event period.
The thoroughfare through to Rymill Park / Mullawirraburka will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists for the event duration. Areas will be cordoned off for public safety for limited periods during the setup and pull down from 4 February to 22 March 2013.
Adelaide Fringe must comply with the Council’s Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.
Adelaide Fringe organisers will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event will be responsible for restoring the park to its original condition at the end of the event.
