Background Information
Council was requested to investigate making Hamilton Place one-way (eastbound) from Morphett Street to Hurman Street by residents and members of the south-west community.
Residents believe that motorists who are travelling along Gilbert Street are using Hamilton Place to avoid waiting at the traffic lights at the intersection of Gilbert Street and Morphett Street.
Making the street one-way will make it more circuitous for some motorists and require the removal of some on-street parking at the southern end of Hurman Street.
In accordance with s.32 of the Road Traffic Act, closing Hamilton Place to westbound traffic requires public consultation.
