What is being proposed and where?
Adelaide is internationally recognised as a UNESCO City of Music which proudly supports live music and events. Secret Sounds, organisers of the Falls Festival and Splendour in the Grass, is staging the new Harvest Rock Festival on 19 and 20 November 2022. The event will be held in both Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka (Park 14) and King Rodney Park / Ityamai-itpina (Park 15), as well as on Bartels Road. The road will act as a conduit between the Parks to facilitate the safe movement of the expected crowd between the two main performance stages. Bartels Road will also accommodate performances and amenities for event attendees.
The City of Adelaide is working with the State Government to improve access to the City during this time and to provide incentives to support the retail sector in this busy lead in to Christmas. This includes:
Ensuring access to the city for the ‘Black Friday’ sales on Friday 25 November
Public transport and parking incentives during Harvest Rock and Adelaide 500
Incentives to support retail businesses and traders at their key time of the year.
We would like your feedback on the proposal to temporarily close Bartels Road to stage the Harvest Rock event between Thursday 17 November 2022 – Monday 21 November 2022.
How do I provide feedback?
You can provide your feedback here or by clicking on the 'Provide feedback' tab below.
You can provide feedback until 5pm, Wednesday 27 July 2022. All feedback must be received by Council by this date.
Why are we asking you to do this?
Under the Local Government Act 1999, Council is required to conduct public consultation before it can grant a permit for a business purpose on a road - in this instance the staging of Harvest Rock on Bartels Road – if the event requires any part of a road to be temporarily fenced off or closed, which would impede the passage of traffic in that area.
