    Project Information and Background

The South Australian Heritage Council is proposing to assess the heritage value of the Park Lands as a whole, potentially including the city layout and streets. The State Heritage Unit of the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) is managing the process for the South Australian Heritage Council.

DEWNR invites you to visit its YourSay site and have your say about the importance and social value of the Adelaide Park Lands and City Squares. For further information please click here

The “Adelaide Park Lands and City Layout” is already on the National Heritage List, nominated by the City of Adelaide and one of the first places to be listed, in November 2008. While a number of individual places within the Park Lands are State and Local Heritage Places, the Park Lands as a whole have not been assessed for their heritage value at a State level.

The Heritage Council will consider whether the Park Lands should be entered in the South Australian Heritage Register as a State Heritage Place (under the Heritage Places Act 1993) or whether it should be designated a State Heritage Area (under the Development Act 1993)(or neither).

Please click here(External link) for more information on the Adelaide Park Lands.

If you would like to have your say DEWNR will accept comments until Friday 29 September 2017.
