Will access to Bonython Park/ Tulya Wardli be affected during the event?
For the purposes of public safety access to the lease area will be restricted during set up and pull down, however pathways will remain open at all times.
How will the Park Lands be protected during their stay?
Hudsons Circus will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event will be responsible for restoring the park to its original condition at the end of the event.
Hudsons Circus has also committed to undertaking the following procedures during the event licence period to help maintain the grass in the licence area:
Hand watering during the event licence period where appropriate.
The use of track matting to reduce vehicle impact on turf during bump-in and bump-out where appropriate.
Circuses visiting the Adelaide Park Lands are required to comply with the current State Government legislation and guidelines relating to animal welfare. This includes the Animal Welfare Act 1985, the South Australian Animal Welfare Regulations 2012 and the South Australian Code of Practice for The Welfare of Animals In Circuses.
The Code of Practice is legally enforceable and RSPCA inspectors carry out inspections to ensure compliance.
Will the animals live on-site outside of performance times?
Yes, the animals will live on-site with their keepers from setup Monday 26 September to Monday 24 October 2016.
Hudsons Circus will provide care and housing for all animals within a secure fenced area, including night quarters, in line with animal management regulations.
The performances are only accessible to paying customers. Tickets for the performances range from $17.50 - $56 for children and $27.50 - $60 per person for adults. Animal education sessions will be held weekly and are free to attend.
Some minor noise is anticipated. Predicted noise levels are within accepted guidelines for an event of this nature.
The event is required to comply with the Adelaide city Council Event Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.
Public transport will be promoted as the best way to attend this event, with the tram service adjacent on Port Road.
UPark will operate a car park in Bonython Park/ Tulya Wardli on show days. The rate for parking will be the 2016/17 commercial rate which will be endorsed by Council in June 2016.
I have already seen a poster or advertisement for this event. Has it already been approved?
Approval for an event requiring public consultation is only given after the consultation period has concluded and Council has had the opportunity to review any submissions.
In some instances, particularly national tours, there is a need for events to announce dates prior to receiving Council approval. This however does not constitute Council approval for the event.
Are there alternative ways to provide my feedback?
