We would like your views on the application from Jolleys Boathouse Bistro Pty Ltd to have its lease of Jolleys Boathouse renewed for a period of 18 years.
Background
Jolleys Boathouse Bistro Pty Ltd currently leases a Park Lands building in Red Gum Park/Karrawirra (Park 12) on the corner of Victoria Drive and Jolleys Lane. They are seeking to renew their lease agreement with The City of Adelaide for an 18-year period as part of a capital upgrade to their leased building as well as undertaking an internal fit out.
Although the current lease is due to expire on 31 July 2021, the lessee has an additional 8 year right of renewal until 31 July 2029. Due to the length of closure required to undertake the capital upgrade and to safeguard the significant investment required for the internal refurbishment, the lessee has requested that a new lease with an additional 10 years be granted on top of the remaining 8-year term be entered into. This is the foundation for the 18-year lease agreement.
Under the Local Government Act 1999, Councils are required to formally undertake public consultation for a minimum of 21 days for a lease or licence over community land that is greater than 5 years.
