Project Update

Thank you to the people that responded to the City of Adelaide’s public consultation for the Kingston Stormwater project. Your feedback was carefully considered against budget, renewal requirements and asset condition.

Option number 2 has been identified as the best solution moving forward and will be delivered in accordance with Councils Annual Business Plan and Budget. The concept will move to detailed design this financial year with construction scheduled for the 2024/25 Financial year.

Project Information

The City of Adelaide Council was informed of localised flooding within Kingston Terrace from Jerningham Street to Francis Street. This project was solely to identify ways to reduce and mitigate the flooding within the area.

Background

During analysis, the City of Adelaide also reviewed the current conditions of other assets within this space. Different options have been explored to identify what enhancements can be done to improve the assets within this street, that not only benefit the residents within the areas, but also the entire community.

Three design concepts have been created. These options vary from a maintenance perspective, through to a holistic approach. We are engaging with the community to assist with the decision of which option will be of greater benefit.

The concept options include new underground stormwater infrastructure and consider the installation of new kerb and spoon drain, road resurfacing work, bluestone kerb and water table restoration work, pedestrian intersection, and public lighting improvements.

Benefits of the Project

  • Improved safety for pedestrians and patrons
  • A consistent road use condition for drivers
  • A new stormwater management strategy
