If the decision is made to re-open Leigh Street to through traffic, when would this happen?

The street would be re-opened to traffic as soon as practical. This is likely to be sometime during the first two weeks of October 2013.

If the decision is made to close the street, will I be consulted on exactly where the closure will extend to and from?

Council will advise all stakeholders of the location of the closure points based on safety considerations.

If Leigh Street is closed to through vehicle traffic, will cyclists still be able to use the street in both directions?

Cyclists will be able to use the street in both directions – as permitted under the current trial.

If Leigh Street remains closed, will the loading zones stay?

Council will review the provision of loading zones, taking into account issues of safety for both motorists and pedestrians.

How would the timing of the ‘timed closures’ be decided?

It would be determined in collaboration with the street’s businesses and building owners.
