Project Update: May 2013

In early April, the Mobile Food Vending Guidelines was presented to Council for endorsement. The decision to endorse the guidelines was deferred pending further information regarding the number of permits, permit fees and relative operating costs of Mobile Food Vendors compared to traders operating in cafes, etc.

On 7 May a revised report went to City Culture and Community Services Committee. The Committee have recommended the following to Council:

  • An investigation into the feasibility of an economic analysis including a business impact assessment to be completed in December
  • Council endorses the draft Mobile Food Vending Guidelines
  • The maximum number of Food Vending Permits to be set at 40 from 1 August 2013; and
  • An evaluation of the program to be completed by June 2014.

The revised report will be presented to Council on 14 May. Please stay tuned for further updates.
