Why is the program being reviewed?

This review assists in outlining Councils overall direction and priorities for the Program moving forward. The current guidelines were endorsed until June 2015 and are in need of a review for any changes moving forward.

What are the major proposed changes to the program?

The major proposed changes to the program include the following:
    • Increase in permit fees
    • Increase in distance from a fixed food business
    • Location Zones
    • Categorisation of Mobile Food Vendors

Where are the locations vendors can currently trade?

Currently the distance a Mobile Food Vendor can trade from a fixed food business of the same food type is 25 metres. There are further location requirements on pages 7-9 of the proposed Mobile Food Vending Guidelines.  Under the proposed guidelines this distance would increase to 50 metres from all fixed food businesses. Mobile Food Vendors can set up within 50 metres during the operating hours of a fixed food business if the mobile vendor has their written agreement.

There are specific guidelines outlining the new location zones proposed where the vendors can trade and these can be found on pages 6-8 of the proposed Mobile Food Vending Guidelines.

    What are the current fees?

The permit fees were determined from the cost of Adelaide City Council resourcing to administer and support the program and Environmental Health Services support.

The current permit fee structure ranges from $1000 for an open summer permit, to $666 for an open winter permit. Each season permit is valid for 6 months. There are also 10 day permits available which are able to be renewed twice (total of 20 days across 6 months) before becoming an open permit, where they can trade any day within the 6 month season.
