Why can’t residents in the CBD area be part of the pilot?
The pilot is being conducted in North Adelaide as a sample size of the City of Adelaide. North Adelaide provides a mixture of different housing types and sizes to test the capacity of bins and the amount and type of organics material presented for collection.
Does the collection of my waste (red lid) and recycling (yellow lid) bins change during the pilot?
No, the collection of the waste and recycling bins remains the same – waste bin collected weekly and recycling bin collected fortnightly on the same days.
I feel the KESAB bin checks might invade my privacy, can I opt out?
No. The bin checks will only look briefly at the type of material in the bin from opening the bin lid. KESAB will not be opening bags of waste or pulling material out of the bin. They will not be sorting or weighing the material in the bin.
What happens after the pilot?
A report will be presented to the Council on the outcomes of the pilot for Council to consider whether a more frequent green organics bin collection service will part of a future waste and recycling collection contract.
Can I upsize or downside my 240-litre green organics bin?
Yes you can downside your 240-litre green organics bin with a 140-litre green organics bin. Please contact Council Customer Service on telephone 8203 7203.

Feedback provided from the online survey in December 2014, will assist to inform Council on the community’s views on Council’s green organics services and their likely usage of a weekly green organics collection service. This information will be compared with feedback provided from the second online survey in March 2015, during the weekly green organics collection service.
