Background

The Adelaide Park Lands - Area 1 Regulation was implemented in 2014 as a strategy for addressing alcohol related anti-social behaviour. This Dry Area is timed from 8:00pm to 11:00am.

In 2021, Adelaide Park Lands – Area 2 covering Blue Gum Park/Kurangga (Park 20) and Veale Park/Walya Yarta (Park 21) became Dry Areas 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A Dry Area makes it illegal to consume alcohol or carry an open liquor container in a designated public space during the regulated times.

City of Adelaide is seeking feedback on:

  • Whether the Adelaide Park Lands Dry Area Regulation should be extended or removed?
  • If the Regulations continue, should there be any changes to the Adelaide Park Lands – Area 2 covering Blue Gum Park/Kurangga (Park 20) and Veale Park/Walya Yarta (Park 21) which are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
  • If the Regulation continues, should the extension be for two years (as has previously been the case) or a different timeframe?
