Why do we need a new location for the Queen Victoria Statue?

As part of the upgrade to Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga a new central plaza will be constructed to cater for large events and this will see the current road replaced by new paving and trees. The statue must be relocated to allow for this newly configured road/plaza.

What does it mean when a statue is listed as a State Heritage Place?

When a statue is listed as a State Heritage Place it means that
Council must take extra care to ensure the statue is not damaged
    during the relocation process.
