What is a PPA ?
Why is City of Adelaide interested in this topic?
The City of Adelaide has an ambition to be one of the world’s first carbon neutral cities and is leading by example. The City of Adelaide entered into a corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in July 2020. PPAs can be an effective way for businesses to meet sustainability goals. The City of Adelaide’s own PPA incorporated the purchase of 100% renewable electricity, including 25% supply from two South Australian solar farms commissioned directly as a result of the PPA agreement, with the remaining renewable electricity supply from Clements Gap wind farm, also in South Australia.
Based on the experience to date, the City wishes to explore the potential for similar arrangements in the community.
