    Background

A request was received from the Adelaide Bowling Club (the Club) in January 2017 to review the current parking conditions in the public car park in Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka with access from Dequetteville Terrace. The key issue raised by the Club includes the lack of parking spaces with adequate time limits available for visitors to use the bowling club facilities and that many visitors park on the eastern side of Dequetteville Terrace. This in turn sees a large group of visitors cross over six lanes of traffic to attend games on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the game season.

As this matter sits outside of current policy delegation, the Council considered it at its meeting on 28 March 2017 and resolved to approve a consultation to determine how the Rymill Car Park might best be used to facilitate both member and visitor access for the Club and visitor access to Rymill Park.

As such, we now seek to understand how you utilise this car park during the week, evenings and weekends. This will help Council make an informed decision on this proposal and if it will progress to the trial period later this year.

    Project Information

We want to know whether the community support changing the car park times of the Rymill car park to help aid the Adelaide Bowling Club visitors and members park in close proximity to the club on game days.

The proposed changes would see the Adelaide Bowling Club manage the car park for club activities (at the exclusion of all others) during daylight hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays between October and March of each year.

Should the Council determine that there is general community support through the consultation, then this proposal will be trialled in October 2017 to March 2018 on Wednesdays and Saturday only.
