Consultation has concluded

Walter Street Car Park is land owned by Council and is classified as Community Land. To allow for this sale, we are required to revoke the classification of this property as Community Land.

There is minimal community benefit in us retaining ownership of the Walter Street Car Park due to the close proximity of other parking facilities and the restricted location of the Walter Street site. The Walter Street Car Park is currently leased as a private car park for the exclusive use of nearby offices.

For these reasons there is minimal commercial potential of the Walter Street Car Park as a short-term car park. The revenue generated by the sale of this asset could be invested in viable Council activities that will benefit the community.

Before we can revoke the classification of Community Land, we are required to consult with the community about this proposal.
