    How will the Park Lands be protected during their stay?

    In addition to the standard requirements under the event licence, Santos Tour Down Under Tour Village will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following the City of Adelaide’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event organisers will be responsible for restoring the park to its original condition at the end of the event, specifically, Events South Australia has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures: 

    • Hand watering will occur during the occupancy period. 
    • Temporary buildings and structures will be elevated off the surface of the grass to minimise impact on the turfed areas of the Park Lands. 

    Who can I contact during the event if I have any concerns regarding this event?

    Events South Australia will provide a hotline phone number during the event. Any member of the public can contact this number and provide their feedback to the event organiser. It is the responsibility of the event organiser to consider all feedback provided and take any necessary actions to remedy the issue. The hotline phone number is 0403 043 743. The event hotline phone number will be operated from 6am to 12 midnight from Saturday 16 January 2021 to Sunday 24 January 2021.

    How will the COVID-19 Pandemic impact this event?

    All City of Adelaide event applications and approvals are subject to the Event Organisers complying with relevant laws, regulations, and restrictions in respect of the outbreak of COVID-19. 

    The City of Adelaide and Events South Australia do not yet know what the directions will be with respect to mass gatherings and social distancing in 2021. 

    Preparations for events continue while we wait for this advice.

    Can I expect noise where I live?

    The Santos Tour Down Under Tour Village will have a large screen showing footage from the day’s racing. While this is amplified sound, it is at a volume that has not caused issues previously and is not anticipated to cause any noise related issues for the 2021 event. 


    There will be a stage with amplified sound from 1pm to 10pm for team presentations. This will include presentations on stage and live music. The event organisers will have a Noise Mitigation Plan in place for this part of the event. 


    A letter box drop to residents and affected businesses two weeks prior to the event will detail the event and a process for any complaints. 


    The event must also comply with the City of Adelaide’ s Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures, specifically, Events South Australia has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures:  

    Is car parking available at the event site?

    On-site parking is not provided for this event. The closest public parking to this event is U- Park on Grote Street. Public transport will be available to this event via tram and bus with set down locations adjacent to Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga. 

    Will there be any road closure to facilitate this event?

    Events SA have applied to close Reconciliation Plaza (the section of road between the northern and southern sections of Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga). The road closure is proposed to occur from 5am on Monday 11 January 2021 to 10pm on Wednesday 27 January 2021. If approved the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure’s Traffic Management Centre will adjust the precinct’s traffic signal operations to keep congestion and delays down to a minimum. Whilst the proposed closure may affect traffic conditions, event detours will be set up to manage these conditions.

    I have already seen a poster or advertisement for this event. Has it already been approved?

    Approval for an event requiring public consultation is only given after the consultation period has concluded and Council has had the opportunity to review the application and any submissions. 

    The City of Adelaide discourages any event from promotions prior to Council approval.
