Circuses visiting the Adelaide Park Lands are required to comply with the current State Government legislation and guidelines relating to animal welfare. This includes the Animal Welfare Act 1985, the South Australian Animal Welfare Regulations 2012 and the South Australian Code of Practice for The Welfare of Animals In Circuses.

The Code of Practice is legally enforceable and RSPCA inspectors can carry out inspections to ensure compliance.

For the purposes of public safety, access to the lease area will be restricted. However, this event will not restrict access to any public footpaths, bicycle tracks or roadways within the park.

In addition to the standard requirements under the event lease, Silvers Circus will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event will be responsible for restoring the park to its original condition at the end of the lease period.
Silvers Circus has committed to undertaking procedures during the event to help maintain the grass in the lease area. This includes the use of pro-mats during bump-in and bump-out and hand watering the site.

Some minor noise is anticipated. Predicted noise levels are within accepted guidelines for an event of this nature. Council has not received noise complaints relating to circuses in the past

Approval for an event requiring public consultation is only given after the consultation period has concluded and Council has had the opportunity to review any submissions.

Adelaide City Council discourages any event from promotions prior to Council approval.

In some instances, particularly national tours, there is a need for events to announce dates in each capital city. This however does not constitute Council approval for the event.

The dogs have been trained using the reward method.

Yes, the animals will live on-site with their keepers from setup Monday 31 March 2014 to pull down on Monday 5 May 2014.
Silvers Circus will provide care and housing for all animals within a secure fenced area, including night quarters, in line with animal management regulations.
