Why is Stereosonic being held over two days? I thought it was a one day event?

The attendance numbers have grown steadily since 2008 and in 2012 it attracted 20,500 attendees. Due to the popularity of this music festival the organisers have applied to extend the 2013 event from one day to two days. They have capped the maximum capacity at 24,000 per day for the 2013 event

Will access to Tampawardli (Park 24) be affected during the event?

Access will be restricted for park users, from Saturday 30 November 2013 to 11 December 2013.

A short section of the Park Lands Trail adjacent to the event site will be impacted during this period. Vehicle movements will be managed to ensure pedestrian and cyclist safety while using the trail.

Council approved advanced notice signage and event period signage will be put in place by event organisers.  

How will the Park Lands be protected during their stay?

In addition to the standard requirements under the event lease, Stereosonic will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following our Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands.

The event will be responsible for restoring the park to its original condition at the end of the event. Specifically Stereosonic has committed to undertaking the following Park Lands protection measures:

  • Internal traffic management plan to be developed; and
  • Turf watering schedule throughout the lease duration.

Can I expect noise where I live?

Stereosonic is required to abide by a Council approved Noise Mitigation plan for the event. Residents in surrounding areas will be notified by the event organiser via a mail drop no less than two weeks prior to the event.

The letter will detail the event times and contact information for complaints or queries.  Adelaide City Council will also be appointing independent acoustic engineers to ensure compliance with Council’s Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.

In previous years this event has demonstrated strong compliance to the Adelaide City Council’s Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.

What happens to my feedback?

All submissions will be collated and included in a report to Council to assist in making a decision regarding the event lease.

A report will be presented to the City Culture and Community Services Committee on Tuesday 2 July 2013 followed by the Council meeting on Tuesday 9 July 2013.
