This consultation has concluded.

We have received an application from Jaspaar Pty Ltd for the use of Bonython Park/ Tulya Wodli for the Stereosonic 2012 event to take place on Saturday 1 December 2012.

Before council can grant a temporary event lease we are required to consult with the community as it may affect their access to the Park Lands.

A report was presented to Committee on 4 September 2012 and Council on 11 September 2012 for a decision regarding the event lease.

    Stereosonic has been held in Bonython Park/ Tulya Wodli in the Adelaide Park Lands since 2008. The music festival tours all major capital cities around Australia and showcases the best electronic artists and DJs form Australian and overseas. The attendance numbers have grown steadily since 2008 and event organisers have capped the maximum capacity at 23,000 for the 2012 event. Attendance numbers in 2011 were approximately 18,000.

    Event infrastructure in the Park Lands will include:
    •    Associated marquees and tented structures
    •    Food Service - catering/selling vans or booths
    •    Staging and/or rigging
    •    Perimeter fencing
    •    Mobile lighting towers
    •    Public address and lighting support equipment
    •    Toilets
    •    Signage for the event
    •    Ticket boxes
    •    Tiered seating
    •    Waste Management
    •    Support or promotional vehicles

    We are committed to creating a vibrant city full of exciting and popular cultural and artistic events and activities.
    The nationally touring Stereosonic event is Australia’s premier electronic music festival that now attracts an audience of approximately 20,000 people each year. Stereosonic attracts some of the most popular electronic artists and DJs from Australia and overseas for the event.

    Access to Bonython Park/ Tulya Wodli will be restricted for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicle access on Saturday 1 December 2012 to allow for the safe staging of the Stereosonic 2012 event. Event organisers will maintain existing pedestrian and cycle paths during the set-up and pull-down periods. Some detours will be in place during this period to allow for the safe work practices onsite during the event build and pull down.

    A lane closure on Port Road is implemented as part of the traffic management plan to facilitate a slip road for safe pick-ups and drop-offs. Speed restrictions on Port Road are also implemented on the event day to ensure the safety of the public.

    Stereosonic will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands.  The event will be responsible for restoring the park to its original condition at the end of the event.

    Stereosonic must also comply with Adelaide City Council’s Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.
