Why are these specific events being consulted on and not others?
The events that are included in this consultation pack are those that Adelaide City Council have applications for as of 1 July 2016 that have event planning considerations not covered by the Adelaide Park Lands Event Management Plan. An event application is approved under delegated authority unless it:
Will occupy a significant portion of a Park for more than four weeks (including bump in and out).
Is seeking road closure of more than 24 hours to utilise an entire site.
Is a new event application that would have significant impact on the Park Lands or community.
Major events that are proposed to occur in Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) or Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga are required to be consulted on due to the Community Land Management Plans for these parks not currently allowing for them.
Refer toAttachment Afor the events that Adelaide City Council is seeking feedback on and information about the event planning considerations.
All other events are approved under delegated authority.
Council is seeking feedback on the event management approaches taken to mitigate the effects of each event that is not covered by the Adelaide Park Lands Event Management Plan. The event planning considerations have been included in Attachment A with the proposed corresponding event management approaches.
Council would like to know if there are any further measures that would lessen the impact of these considerations, and assist in the planning of these events.
How are the event sites in Adelaide’s Park Lands currently programmed?
Attachment B shows how the main event sites in Adelaide’s Park Lands are programmed as at 1 July 2016, sorted by month.
Attachment C shows how the main event sites in Adelaide’s Park Lands are programmed as at 1 July 2016, sorted by park. It is worth noting that event bookings are accepted on a daily basis and this programming is constantly updated.
How will events be processed that are received outside of the summer and winter event season consultation rounds?
If event applications that require public consultation are received outside of the summer and winter consultation rounds, a second round of public consultation will be run to consider the new event applications.
There are a number of ways in which you can provide feedback:
Submission Form
Complete the Submission Form to provide your feedback. Submissions must include the name and residential address of the respondent, and will be included in a report to Council which will be publically available. For projects that have a legislative requirement to consult, including your name and residential address are mandatory.
Written Submissions
All written submissions must be received by 5.00 pm on Wednesday 10 August 2016 and should be addressed to:
Community Consultation
Summer Event Season – 2016-2017 Adelaide Park Lands Events
Submissions will be used to guide the events’ planning, and the approaches to specific event considerations will be amended where appropriate
All submissions will be collated with the event planning considerations and the corresponding management approaches included in a report presented to the Economic & Community Development Committee on Tuesday, 20 September 2016, followed by the Council meeting on Tuesday 27 September 2016
Agendas and minutes of the Committee and Council meetings are available on here.
