Do you or your business need help with managing the impact of COVID -19?

If yes, please help us to help you by completing our Business Support Survey!

Update: 28 May 2020

Following the closure of the survey period:

Outcomes

10 Businesses were followed up with a call/email in response to needing further support.

Key learning:

  • Strong level of take-up of support available with scope to improve providing the relevant information to support businesses;
  • Micro-businesses less than $75K turnover have little financial support;
  • Landlord negotiations are challenging - typically landlords are holding the power in the negotiations (subsequent legislation and tax relief has reduced some of this, but the challenge remains for the tenants to effectively negotiate their desired terms)
  • A hotline is likely to be used by the majority but need to factor the survey only had 50 responses

Use intelligence to inform:

  • Council’s recovery initiatives
  • Curation of content for weekly COVID-19 newsletter
  • Reaffirm and identified focus areas for provide support

Project Information

We want your feedback on the impact that COVID-19 has had on your business and the level of support that you require or have accessed during this period. If you own a business, and/or you own property in the City we would value your feedback about the impact that this has had on your business. The purpose is for Council to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on businesses, and how we can provide support in these difficult times.

Background

The City of Adelaide has over 5000 businesses; the vast majority of which are considered small to medium enterprises (SMEs). Of the 5000 plus businesses the ratio of Food & Beverage and Retail is high. The current economic climate has challenged many, but the Food & Beverage and Retail sectors have been severely impacted.

Council has established a Small Business Task Force (SBTF) to work in collaboration with Business SA to provide consistent and up to date information to City Businesses on support packages and other services available from Federal, State, Local Government, Peak Bodies, and Industry Associations to address the impact made by COVID-19. The SBTF has been in contact with the city's Precinct Groups and city businesses and would now like to hear from its SMEs to better understand how we can better support you.

This is an opportunity to express your opinions about the support provided by Government (Federal, State and Local) and the accessibility and understanding of these support measures. The intent of this project is to try and better understand the environment, identify any areas for improvement in the system and implement strategies to better support businesses.
