Consultation has concluded

The licence application was endorsed by the Economic & Community Development Committee of Council on 8 December 2015 with the following recommendation:

That Council grants a temporary licence to the organiser of Tasting Australia 2016 Town Square for the use of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga between 1-8 May 2016.

Council endorsed the recommendation on 15 December 2015 and the event was successfully staged between 1-8 May 2016.

    The organiser of Tasting Australia's Town Square (Events South Australia) has submitted an event licence application to Council for the use of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga from Sunday 1 May to Sunday 8 May 2016.
    Before Council can approve an application for a Park Lands Event Licence, we are required to consult with you as the event may:
    a) occupy (‘alienate’) the Park Lands for more than three event days, or
    b) significantly impact public access to a particular Park Land area for more than three days.

    Event Background & Application Details

    Tasting Australia is an eight day festival showcasing the best of South Australian produce and Town Square is the festival hub. It's anticipated that activities will attract approximately 700 local, national and international delegates.
    The event infrastructure is scheduled to start setting up on Sunday 24 April with pull down to be completed by Saturday 14 May 2016. The precinct will be licenced for the service of liquor and have the capacity for 5,000 people at any one time. It is anticipated that the event will attract 4,000 people on week days and 10,000 people on weekends. Proposed Opening Hours: Sunday 1 May to Wednesday 4 May: 11:00am to 5:00pm Thursday 5 May to Saturday 7 May: 11:00am to 8:00pm Sunday 10 May: 10:00am to 5:00pm
    Event infrastructure proposed in the Park Lands includes:
    Associated marquees and tented structures
    Food and beverage service booths & temporary kitchens
    Staging and/or rigging equipment with public address system and lighting
    Event theming, tables & chairs
    Temporary toilets & associated plumbing
    Waste management infrastructure (three bin system with separation of recyclables & cardboard)
    Temporary fencing
    The event organiser will be applying for a road closure of Reconciliation Plaza, the section of road between the northern and southern sections of Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga, on Sunday 1 May, Saturday 7 May and Sunday 8 May 2016. As per the Road Traffic Act 1961, additional road closure consultation will be undertaken with affected businesses and residents prior to the event. The event will be required to provide an event traffic management plan for this closure. If the road closure is approved on these dates the area will be used as an extension for the public activities, such as picnics.
