Torrens Junction Works Compound - 1 Year Licence Proposal

Consultation has concluded.

Tell us your level of support for this 1 year Licence to be provided to the Minister for Transport to enable the construction of the Torrens Junction Project.

Background

The Goodwood and Torrens Rail Junction Project is a nationally significant project which will result in increased productivity on the Melbourne-Adelaide-Perth rail corridor as well as reducing delays at level crossings in metropolitan Adelaide. The project will also improve Adelaide’s urban environment through the provision of upgraded cycling and pedestrian linkages.

Stage 1 of the Project was completed in 2014 and delivered the Goodwood Rail Junction and Adelaide Showgrounds station. Stage 2 works include the grade separation of freight and passenger rail corridors at the Torrens Rail Junction. This is where the interstate freight railway crosses the Outer Harbour passenger railway, located in the Park Lands between Port Road, Thebarton and War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide.

Project Information
The draft licence is available for comment and allows the Minister to use the land for certain purposes as long as certain conditions are met, which include:
  • No advertising
  • No parking of workers’ vehicles on Park Lands
  • Tree impacts are to be minimised and trees that are to be retained are protected
  • No contamination.
