Have your say on granting a long term lease to operate a licensed café/restaurant in the City of Adelaide Town Hall Courtyard
At its meeting of 28 March 2017 Council approved beginning the process of negotiating a long-term lease for a café/restaurant to occupy the Town Hall Courtyard and begin the public consultation process.
Background
The Town Hall Courtyard is part of the central heritage listed City of Adelaide Town Hall Complex, which comprises the Town Hall and Price Alfred Chambers (King William Street), Eagle Chambers (corner of King William and Pirie Streets), Gladstone Chambers and Queens Chambers (Pirie Street).
An opportunity is now available for a café/restaurant to occupy this unique site which will complement the civic culture and history of the Town Hall complex whilst activating the vacant site and creating a relaxed, friendly dining atmosphere.
The proposed lease area is a portion of Town Acre 203 contained in Certificate of Title Volume 6136 Folio 364.
It is a legislative requirement to undertake community consultation on a Lease over community land that is for a term of greater than five years.
Benefits of the project
This consultation will assist Council in its Lease negotiations in line with the Community Land Management Plan.
This restaurant opportunity offers a chance to activate a unique city space with a “sustainable greening” edge and provide a meeting place for the general public to come and enjoy wonderful food and beverages in a pleasant atmosphere.
This Lease will be managed in accordance with the Community Land Management Plan.
