Your Say Adelaide Newsletter - March 2024

Thank you for your continued participation and we look forward to receiving your feedback for our current engagements listed below.

LIVE

Light Square/Wauwi Master Plan: You are invited to share your views to help shape the future of Light Square/Wauwi as part of the development of the Square's master plan. The master plan will guide the Square's future as an important community green space in the west end of the city. We hope to hear from a wide range of our communities to ensure the master plan is informed by a broad cross section of people. Consultation closes 9am Monday 15 April 2024

Draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan: This Disability Access and Inclusion Plan recognises the importance of inclusion and access for everyone, removing barriers to participation and enabling people living with disability to participate equally in their communities. It is a roadmap for how City of Adelaide will promote inclusion in the community and how people with disability can access our mainstream supports and services. We are seeking your feedback on whether we have captured your experiences with getting around the city; if we are on the right track to remove barriers that can stop people from participating in city life; if there is anything else we could do to assist you to visit, shop, study or work in the city; and if you agree with our four-year focus areas, or if we have missed something. Consultation closes 5pm Tuesday 2 April 2024

City Plan 2036: City Plan is a new way of doing urban planning, where we are mapping our vision and strategies for future sustainable growth and development across the City of Adelaide. Using 3D mapping technology, we can analyse options to get the best results for the community, environment or economy and track how we’re going. To do this, we need to get together and talk about how we want to live, work, learn, play and connect in our capital city in the future. Help us by contributing your ‘pins’ to our spatially mapped ‘pin-drop’ survey. Show us what is important to you about your local area and where you think there are opportunities for growth and renewal. Consultation closes 5pm Monday 8 April 2024

Asset Management Plans: Our draft Buildings Asset Management Plan outlines the operation, maintenance and renewal of our assets over the next 10 years, and the vital role these assets play in providing essential services to our community now and into the future. Council's building portfolio is made up of 184 individual assets which are essential to the health and wellbeing of our community and provide services for recreational activities through facilities including libraries, community centres, sporting clubs, public toilets, accommodation and commercial assets. In June 2022, we asked you to give us feedback on our building assets. The insights from the survey helped us identify where current levels of service are not meeting expectations and how we can better manage these assets. Now we want to hear from you on our draft Plan. Consultation closes 5pm Friday 12 April 2024

Draft Funding Programs Policy: We are reviewing our current funding program and developing an overarching Funding Programs Policy. The Policy will be applicable to all areas of Council and its subsidiaries for the distribution of funding through grants, sponsorships, incentives or strategic partnerships. The development of a Funding Programs Policy will ensure a more consistent approach to the management and distribution of funding across Council programs, and we are seeking feedback on the proposed Policy to ensure it is in line with the needs and expectations of the community. Consultation closes 5pm Friday 5 April 2024

Hilton Hotel Site - Proposed Community Land Management Plan Amendment and Lease: We would like your feedback on the amendment to the Community Land Management Plan and a lease for a term longer than 5 years for the Hilton Hotel site located on community land at 221-237 Victoria Square, Adelaide. Consultation closes 5pm Friday 5 April 2024

Gouger Street Revitalisation: Gouger Street has been identified as a major project within the Main Streets Revitalisation Program. Find out more about the revitalisation project here, where you can complete an online survey or let us know your ideas of how you would like to see Gouger Street enhanced, and what improvements are important to you as part of this project. Online survey feedback closes 5pm Wednesday 3 April 2024.

CONSULTATION UPDATES

Recycling food and other green waste at home: Thank you for participating in the Recycling food and other green waste at home community consultation. We value your input and have listened to the feedback provided via Your Say, surveys, doorstep chats and focus groups. We learned that City of Adelaide residents are generally open to service innovations and to work together to achieve higher food waste diversion outcomes. Informed by your input, the City of Adelaide is planning a small-scale pilot which aims to test a number of service innovations for residents in city laneways. In the coming months, we will engage with selected households for further feedback and the next steps. If you have any further comments or questions, please email us at sustainability@cityofadelaide.com.au.

Rymill Park Kiosk - 21 Year Lease Consultation: An analysis of the community consultation findings was presented to Kadaltilla / Adelaide Park Lands Authority and City Community Services and Culture Committee on 22 February and 5 March 2024 respectively. The analysis showed support for the Draft Lease Agreement. On 12 March 2024 Council endorsed the 21-Year Commercial Park Lands Lease Agreement and the final concept plans for the Rymill Park Kiosk. Support was provided for the engagement of Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation to seek advice on culturally appropriate acknowledgement of the Kaurna community’s cultural and historical connections with Murlawirrapurka / Rymill Park. The Draft Lease Agreement will now be presented to both Houses of Parliament for 14 sitting days. Further information can be found here.
