Why are the lighting towers positioned in this location?

The lights are proposed to sit in this location to allow the whole field to be as accessible as possible and available for a variety of uses.
The site currently has installed power boxes and cable pits and this proposed location makes direct use of this.

What is the proposed lighting level?

The proposed lighting level will suit both training and night matches using two different switch modes under AS2560.2.3-2007 – Lighting for Football (all codes).

What does this lighting level mean?

Training level – minimum average 50 lux maintained at 0.3 uniformity.
Competition level (Night matches) - minimum average 100 lux maintained at 0.5 uniformity.

What is the level of spill from the lights?

The highest level of light spill is 2.2 lux using 22 m poles.
The maximum level of light spill allowed is 10 lux under AS 4282.

How tall are the lighting towers?

They will be 22 metres.

Can this height change?

Yes, the lighting towers could reach 25m. This is dependent on the budget available for this project.

What are the lighting towers made of?

Galvanized steel.

Will there be protective padding around the lighting towers near the Criterium Track?

Yes. This will help provide safety to users of the track.

How many floodlights are located on each tower?

There will be 5 floodlights placed on each tower. In total there will be 20 floodlights.

Is this permanent and who will own and maintain the lights?

Yes, the four luminaires and column towers become the property of Adelaide City Council upon completion of the project.

Can we have access to use the lights during events and programs and what is the cost?
