Engaging with culture

I am fortunate that the City of Adelaide attracts International and new migrants university students with whom I teach. With many cultures present in the classrooms, we often engage in rich cross cultural conversations, from which we are all the richer. I love those occasions where I am invited to their homes and am humbled by their level of hospitality. This experience of engaging first-hand with their personal stories enriches my life and theirs, their art and literature. When they come to my home, they are so overjoyed that they have finally come into the home of a 'local' person - they admire my art too. So the joy and sense of fun are strong as we share cultures and being, adding to all of our lives. I change, they change; I am trusted, they trust me; friendships develop and thus enrich our lives and wellbeing.
