Stage 1 of the Master Plan implementation saw safety improvement works undertaken at the northern end of Whitmore Square. The aim of stage 1 is to improve the level of safety for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The works included the implementation of;
Complementing the above will be improved public lighting in the northern area which SA Power Networks will be undertaking on City of Adelaide’s behalf in the coming months.
The focus of The Whitmore Square develop the action identified in the Master Plan to “create a green and pedestrian friendly edge” by building a new perimeter footpath, and planting large deciduous trees and garden beds around the edge of the Square between Sturt Street on the eastern side and heading north around the Square to Sturt Street on the western side.
