What is the Adelaide Motorsport Festival?

Held the week prior to the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a museum in motion, displaying historic, rare and significant racing vehicles in the Adelaide Park Lands and beyond. Adelaide’s motorsport pedigree is unmatched, and the Adelaide Motorsport Festival brings together the cream of automotive history and heritage with the latest in go-fast tech, all in a picnic race setting around a section of the iconic Adelaide F1 Grand Prix track.

Why will the road be closed?

The event proposes to use a section of Wakefield Road as part of its event circuit. This acts as an extension of the Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi circuit and is a vital part of their event layout.

Previously Wakefield Road was closed for this event annually between 2013 and 2018, to enable the event to use Wakefield Road as part of its circuit.

What detours will be in place?

Detours will be in place throughout the road closure. No other road closures in this area of the City will be occurring on this weekend. All other roads in and out of the city, including Rundle Road, Bartels Road and Botanic Road will remain open at all times.

Residential access to Harvey Street and East Terrace will be maintained at all times.
